Almost time to Depart

Well it’s been ages since I updated the blog, however I have been consumed in just ticking off both time and chores in order to be prepared for the trip.

There has been so much to do, but I have managed to get just about everything sorted out, my backpack is already packed over a week in advance and my to-do list is nearly complete.

Unfortunately I managed to break my collarbone a couple of weeks ago, like an absolute numpty.  For a while I thought it would throw the trip into chaos, but fortunately they are still happy to have me on the trip, and have promised to take it into consideration.  My major problem at the moment however is that there is NO WAY I am going to be able to carry my backpack.  I’ll have to just attempt to drag it about the place!  At least I’m getting picked up from San Jose Airport by the hostel people, then from the hostel by GVI.  So I should be able to get some help!

Fully half of my backpack is packed with various pharmaceuticals and the like…. I am there for 7 months and want to make sure that I have everything that I might even vaguely require, as I just don’t know what I’ll be able to get, or not, while out there.  Despite that, everything fitted in my backpack on the first try, amazing!

I’m now doing the rounds of finishing up at work, saying my goodbyes to various groups of friends, and trying not to spend too much cash in the process.  I’m still a little nervous as what I’m going to be doing is so far out of my comfort zone, but at the same time really excited and pretty sure that I’ll have an awesome time!

I think my next update to this blog will be from San Jose, so stay tuned for my initial impressions of the country and where I’ll be off to next.
